Murder Takes A Stage
Mystery
By James Reach
Directed by Scott Coon
Auditions: January 3 & 4 at 7pm
Performances: February 23, 24, 25, 26, March 1, 2, 3, 4

This fast-paced, exciting mystery thriller takes place during the rehearsals of a new play, as the director, writer, and cast members arrive to begin the first read-through. But when Hazel Laverne, the leading actress, sets foot in the theatre, it soon becomes apparent that she is detested by everyone involved, and when she winds up dead, it is anybody’s guess who could have committed the murder. Mitzie, the plucky young niece of the theatre owner, embarks on a mission to solve the crime along with the local sheriff, and the two of them concoct an ingenious trap for the murderer, placing Mitzi’s life in jeopardy. Audiences will enjoy trying to figure out who the murderer is before all is revealed, and the edge of your seat tension and multiple surprises will keep all ages thrilled from curtain to curtain.

The Hallelujah Girls
Comedy
By Jamie Wooten, Jessie Jones & Nicholas Hope
Directed by Anne Howard
Auditions: March 7 & 8
Performances: April 26, 27, 28, 29, May 3, 4, 5, 6

Hilarity abounds when the feisty females of Eden Falls, Georgia, decide to shake up their lives. The action in this rollicking Southern comedy takes place in SPA-DEE-DAH!, the abandoned church-turned day spa where this group of friends gathers every Friday afternoon. After the loss of a dear friend, the women realize time is precious and if they're going to change their lives and achieve their dreams they have to get on it now! But Sugar Lee, their high-spirited, determined leader, has her hands full keeping the women motivated. Carlene's given up on romance, having buried three husbands. Nita's a nervous wreck from running interference between her problematic son and his probation officer. Mavis' marriage is so stagnant she's wondering how she can fake her own death to get out of it. And sweet, simple Crystal entertains them all, singing Christmas carols with her own, hilarious lyrics. The comic tension mounts when a sexy, ex-boyfriend shows up unexpectedly, a marriage proposal comes from an unlikely suitor and Sugar Lee's arch rival vows she'll stop at nothing to steal the spa away from her. By the time the women rally together to overcome these obstacles and launch their new, improved lives, you've got a side-splitting, joyful comedy that will make you laugh out loud and shout "Hallelujah!"

Souvenir
By Stephen Temperley
Directed by Saul Caplan
No Auditions
Performances: July 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15

Souvenir, which began its original run at the York Theatre Company in 2004, is a two-character fantasia on the life of Florence Foster Jenkins, an unmarried society matron whose delusions of singing grandeur led her to Carnegie Hall, where she performed her off-pitch operatic trills to the delight of thousands in the 1940s with the help of her pianist Cosme McMoon. The play with music examines their rocky but ultimately affectionate relationship. While it is unknown whether the real-life Foster Jenkins knew that she was not a great soprano, the comedic but compassionate play is based around the premise that she remained ignorant for the majority of her career.

Noises Off!
By Michael Frayn
Directed by James Nelson
Auditions: July 10 & 11
Performances: September 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16

Called the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off presents the story of a hapless acting troupe who are touring a production of a farce called Nothing On, in which lovers frolic, doors slam and embarrassing hi-jinks ensue. Act One introduces the mediocre troupe rehearsing just hours before opening night and Act Two shows the hilarious situations that occur backstage during a matinee. Act Three shows that the tour has fallen apart, and everyone is just trying to make it through the final performance. When sardines go flying and sets and props start betraying the actors, they plow through the best way they know how! The New York Times called this show “the most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy. A spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce. This dizzy, well-known romp is festival of delirium!”
